Running Bamboo Horse
Dajidian Bamboo Horse Club was founded in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, with a history of over a hundred years to this day. The tying of bamboo and horses is done by the tying craftsman Ma Luohuai. The first generation of riders on bamboo horses included Sun Luofu, Zhao Luoli, Guo Luodong, Liu Luokui, Shan Hulu, Cheng Luoshuai, and others.
The second generation of people rode bamboo horses before the July 7th Incident, including Sun Xichen, Sun Zhixin, Liu Wanqing, Wang Jihe, Sun Jingzhi, and others. This group of people pay more attention to their appearance, meticulously make up, and have a complete range of roles, which are deeply loved by the general public. On the basis of the original, various forms of performance have been innovated. Later, due to various reasons, it was lost for over 40 years.
The third generation was born in 1991, and was rebound and improved by Sun Zhixin's eldest son, Sun Suocheng, with the participation of Zhang Guosheng, Wang Daxing, Liu Jianmin, Wang Xipo, Liu Daku, Zhao Dali, Sun Shunxiang, Shi Caizhan, and others.
The fourth generation is Sun Shunxiang, the second son of Sun Suocheng, who completed the production in 2015 after more than 20 years and re appeared in Dajidian Village on New Year's Day and Spring Festival in 2016.
The production and performance of the bamboo horse in Dajidian involves using bamboo strips to form a frame, and then undergoing a series of processes such as cutting and dressing up bamboo horses, making tails, ears, and eyes. After the production is completed, the artist wears clothing, drives the bamboo horse, and performs a series of movements, such as riding a horse, which is flexible and dynamic. Multiple people can also arrange and cooperate to run out of formation. During the performance, percussion such as gongs and drums cooperate with the bamboo horse's pace, making it magnificent and popular among villagers.
