Big exciting shop in ancient town

Contract of sale

Sun Zhongyi's family in Dajidian Village originally kept a "deed of sale", which was lost during the demolition of an old house in 1997. But the text on the deed of sale has been remembered in Sun Zhongyi's mind. The original text is: "Today, Liu Zhibao, due to his poor family background and inability to raise him, sold his three sons and four sightings to Master Puyunting as his son, with a large sum of money and ten hanging, never turning back. As a witness, Ma Shibao." My grandfather also had a strange story when he arrived at the Sun family.

Dajidian Village was a must-have road leading to Beijing during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. There are many shops in this village, and Sun Luochun, who was Sun Zhongyi's great grandfather of his own tribe, opened a large car and horse shop on the west end of the main road and north of the road. In the spring of the 24th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1898), one evening, a southern merchant named Pu Yunting arrived. I checked into the store and the owner, Sun Luochun, was very hospitable and enthusiastic. As a businessman from a long distance, he deliberately arranged to go to Beishangfang. After finishing the business in the evening and boiling a pot of old wine, we started to talk with the merchants, and it was very speculative to talk about it. The next day when the merchant Pu left, Sun Luochun repeatedly reminded him to come again.

After more than a month, one evening, the merchant surnamed Pu came to the store with a boy aged seven or eight. After a brief chat, the shopkeeper arranged for their accommodation again. In the evening, Sun Luochun boiled a pot of old wine again, and the two of them began to chat freely. My great grandfather asked Mr. Pu, "Why did you have an extra child?" Mr. Pu said, "Oh! I've been punished. I bought a child from Guangchang, and he couldn't walk around. He cried all the way." He took out the sales contract and showed it to the shopkeeper. "I spent ten pounds to buy a burden." Sun Luochun regretted seeing that Mr. Pu had bought this child. He thought of his cousin having only two daughters and no sons, Sun Yushan, Sun Zhongyi's great grandfather. He immediately approached him to discuss, and Sun Luochun said, "Brother, if you want to buy this child, I'll tell you My great grandfather immediately looked at this child and agreed to buy it. Sun Luochun said that he would buy the child at the original price for "ten drops of money". Pu Keshang also felt very happy and ordered a few dishes for the three to drink. My grandfather was very young at the time and was constantly beaten by merchants on the way, so he stayed here and let it go. After my grandfather settled in Da Ji Dian, my great grandfather named him "Sun Changshou" and as an adult, he became known as "Sun Luochang". I haven't found his hometown yet, he only remembers parting with his mother at the Ma Yi market. Later on, some locals in Laiyuan mentioned that in the 1970s, they had performed a small drama called 'Remembering Bitterness and Thinking Sweet', which seemed to have the name of Liu Zhibao on it. In the old society, selling children and selling women was a real thing in our family.
